May be infection: If your discharge smells, your uterus may be infected. You should see your doctor for evaluation. They will probably do a pelvic exam (using a speculum) and check the discharge, then do a bimanual exam. Checking the uterus with both hands (one in the vagina and one on the abdomen) allows the doctor to see if there is tenderness or abnormal size of the uterus.
