It could: The mini-pill is a Progesterone only bill. Breakthrough bleeding can happen. It usually takes 2-3 cycles for your cycle to adapt. However, if you miss a pill or take it late, you can have breakthrough bleeding. Unless you have contraindications to a combined estrogen/progesterone pill, it is a better option to prevent bleeding.
