Some possibilities: Many medical conditions as well as medications can cause a dry mouth. Not drinking enough fluids (dehydration) and mouth breathing are two other possible causes. See your physician to discuss this issue and to make sure you are as healthy as possible. Also see your dentist for a complete and thorough checkup as a dry mouth contributes to tooth decay and periodontal problems.

Doctor & Pharmacist: Check with your doctor and pharmacist regarding medications that you may be taking which may cause xerostomia. That is clinical 'dry mouth.' and have a frank discussion about social drinking and cigarette smoking (or chewing tobacco) as these both are known to augment the effects of dry mouth symptoms!
