Depends on the BC: In the pack many of the pills are dummy pills. In general it is best to follow the directions. You can ovulate and get a strange or not usual period. If you think you are pregnant you must get a serum pregnancy test.

Yes: Stopping a pillpack in the middle can cause what you described above. It can also cause at times immediate bleeding or delayed bleeding for quite a few weeks.
