Neck pain trauma: Most muscular injuries will resolve over two-three weeks. Rest, heat, ice, and nonsteroid medications (ibuprofen or naprosyn) are the mainstay or early treatment. If pain radiates to your arms with or without arm weakness, difficulty walking or urinating occurs, urgent evaluation is indicated. Physical therapy and rehabilitation will improve injuries resistant to initial conservative management.

Unknown : You need a thorough history physical examination and at least an x-ray maybe an MRI should your symptoms not improve. Could be facet pain , disc pain, or simply a cervical strain.
