Herpes: Possibly. Herpes virus is contagious virus can be shed without any evident active lesions. In particular if vesicles are present the virus is highly contagious . The chances would be decreased if he is on suppressive therapy with an anti herpes virus medication such as valtrex (valacyclovir).
