Probably 12 g daily: An increase in inositol in the brain seems to be one of the outcomes of ssri treatment, so it's sensible to consider what might happen if one simply takes inositol. Studies have shown that it seems to work like the ssris. One study found that 6 g a day helped with depression, though 12 g were required in a double-blind study. Sometimes it's difficult to tolerate because of flatulence and cramps.
