I know pree seed is good lubricant to use when trying to conceive but is hypoallergenic lube ok to use or does it not help?

Pre-seed is better: Most lubricants - including k-y jelly, vaseline and saliva (spit), are toxic to sperm. This includes natural oils like olive oil as well. Having said that many couples use lubricant and still conceive - it may be more of a factor if a guy has a low sperm count or motility (% of swimmers) compared to guys with normal sperm count. Your body's own lubrication is higher around ovulation time as well.
