Androgenic Alopecia: Male pattern baldness is a hereditary condition that results in thinning or baldness of the temples, frontal scalp, and/or crown. The sides and back of the scalp are unaffected. It is well known that a hormone, dihidrotestosterone (dht), results in miniturization of the hair follicles, causing the hair to thin and become fine. Treatments include topical 5% rogaine (minoxidil) (otc) & Propecia 1mg daily (rx).
