Continue feeding: Use warm compresses, breast massage, and continue feeding to keep the milk flowing. Ibuprofen can help too if you are in pain. Just be sure to take the recommended dose with food to avoid stomach irritation.

Keep feeding: A blocked duct usually happens because of inadequate transfer of milk from the breast to the baby. That means the baby needs to feed well and frequently on that side. Massage while nursing can help. Sometimes, ultrasound can be used to break up a stubborn blocked duct. Then, try to figure out what may have caused the blockage and try to avoid that, as blocked ducts tend to recur.
