AFI 5cm: Afi stands for amniotic fluid index. An afi less than 5 cm is considered oligohydramnios. This needs to be followed very closely particularly if the baby is measuring smaller than average. Typically, as long as the baby has normal anatomy and is growing, we try to hold off delivering until after 37 weeks. You also need to have a vaginal exam to make sure you are not leaking fluid.
