New or old: This is occasionally found in newborns whose delivery included a stretch of that muscle with enough force to trigger the hematoma. Within weeks the kid is sleeping in one position with his/her head leaning to the side of injury. These usually resolve gradually but the kid may need neck stretches to improve head shape and release the muscle. If this has lasted 7 mo, it may require surgical release.
