I have had diarrhea for about 7 hours. last few times i thought i needed to go but only red mucus came out. pretty sure tummy bug b/c child was sick.

Bloody diarrhea: It is important that you get a stool culture. You have tenesmus which is the urge to go but little is produced . Red mucus is blood which may indicate you have a salmonella or shigella infection which may need to be treated with antibiotics.
