Varies by germ: Germ division is similar to normal human cell division.Some germs can divide within a few minutes while others may take months. Common skin infection germs like strep are fast.Tuberculosis germs are very slow (weeks to month). Rate of division is one of the main reasons longer term antibiotic use is needed for germs like TB.
