Costochondritis: A very common reason for chest pain associated with coughing is inflammation of the cartilage where the ribs attach to the breast bone called costochondritis. It can also be caused by an inflammation of the pleura which is the tissue which covers the lung and called pleurisy. If it continues you should check in with your doctor.
