Boney prominence: All plantar warts can be painful. It tends to hurt more on a weight bearing surface. The heels and ball of foot ie. Under the metatarsal heads. (the ball of your foot). Proper diagnosis is also important, it may look like a wart but can be something different. If there is any doubt see your doctor.

Plantar refers to...: The bottom of the foot. The worst places would be directly under weight bearing surfaces, like under a metatarsal head, under the fifth metatarsal base, or under the heel.

Weight bearing surfa: There are no good places to get a wart on the bottom of the foot, but the weight bearing areas over the metatarsal heads and the heel are the most uncomfortable because the pain on standing and walking is the greatest.
