Nasal drainage: Post nasal drainage accumulating in the back of your throat and into the lungs while you sleep. It is an irritant causing am cough. Allergies or irritants inhaled are likely the cause. Consider nasal saline rinses. Also, consider it may be reflux if cough awakens you and is accompanied by sour vomit taste. A visit with your doc is warranted to further work it up and rule out things like cancer.
