A member asked:

What is the next cream to use for cracked, crusting eczema behind the ear of a second grader if hydrocortisone is not getting rid of it?

More potent creams: Your would need to get a prescription. And there are other creams that are not steroids and work in a totally different way.

Crusting eczema: The rash may be secondarily infected. You should see your childs doctor to have the crusts cultured in case systenuc antibiotic therapy is needed. If the rash will not clear up with hydrogen peroxide cleaning, topical antibiotic such as polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) ointment and topical Hydrocortisone it should be under a doctors care.
