BV?: More likely an overgrowth of bacterial vaginosis. But you do want to rule out other causes such as trichomonos, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. She would need a pelvic exam as there are now very good test to confirm either by urine and/or by discharge.

May be normal: It is normal to have a small amount of vaginal discharge, since mucus helps keep the vagina healthy. This mucus may be thicker around ovulation. It should not smell very strong, be itchy or painful.
