Topical tx: Aloe vera extract has historically been used in india to treat intestinal infections, as a laxative, and for suppressed menses, with the root used for colic. Aloe gel is used as an emollient, moisturizer, and wound-healing agent in various pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations.

Aloe vera has several components. Research has it that the gel component is possibly safe for ingestion, but the latex component is likely unsafe if taken internally. If you ingest aloe vera, use caution. I can not recommend the practice until conclusive evidence becomes available. I agree with Dr. Ekizian that the gel is probably safe for topical use.

Different: These are two different substances. Amla is emblica officinalis and is a rejuvenative fruit, high in antioxidants such as vitamin c. Aloe is very soothing and can calm down inflammation. The whole leaf can have a laxative effect. Topically aloe can help with skin irritation while it is purported than amma can help with pigmentation.
