Docusate sodium: Yes as long as you have tried all the dietary adjustments with high fiber diet and there is no other gastrointestinal problem it is safe to take docusate sodium which is a stool softner for chronic constipation as long as it is effective.

Yes.: Other ways to maintain your plumbing: eat plenty of fruits and veggies, and fiber. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Get moving 30-60 minutes every day. You can also take miralax, (polyethylene glycol) which is now over the counter. Good luck.
