If you aren't supposed to shave when you have a boil, is there another type of hair removal that is "safe"? (feeling a bit like a hairy mammoth! lol)

Dear wooly mammoth: :-). Seriously, as long as you are careful to not shave within 1-2" of the boil , and are careful re hygiene (wash area well w soap before & after shaving) you should be ok. You could also apply neosporin to the boil & nearby area after shaving.
