Not a good idea: Meds like xanax (alprazolam) don't just reduce anxiety, they disinhibit and impair thinking. A certain amount of anxiety before performing actually helps--even if feels bad. The great actor, sir laurence olivier had such bad anxiety before going out on stage, he vomited--to the end of his career. But his actual performances were stellar!
