is trichotillomania something serious?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Joseph Weiner
41 years experience Psychiatry
It can be: Trichotillomania can be serious in the sense that if someone continues to pull hair out, it may cause social avoidance, which can then lead to other problems like poor self esteem, anxiety and depression. If you have trichotillomania, please seek help from a qualified mental health professional. There is hope and help out there.
