A member asked:

What is the difference between plan b and the pill for abortion?

Two different things: Plan b is a high Progesterone pill whereas the "abortion pill" (mifepristone) is a Progesterone blocker. Plan b delays ovulation, so no abortion occurs, whereas Mifepristone acts on the already fertilized egg. See link for further details. http://www.choiceandhealth.com/whatisthedifference.htm.

Ella (ulipristal acetate) New Pill: Plan b good, Ella (ulipristal acetate) better as it gives you up to 5 days since unprotected sex to intervene. The sooner the better. Ella (ulipristal acetate) works to help prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation, perhaps implantation. Ella (ulipristal acetate) requires a prescription, which you may want to get in advance just to have on hand if you regularly use condoms? http://www.ella-rx.com.
