It depends.: First, it likely depends on the drug being tested. There are many kits for many drugs out there. Next, these kits are likely not as sensitive as the lab test, so even if the kit tests negative for your drug, it does not mean the lab test will be. In any case, a confirmatory lab method, like gas chromatography should be done before calling someone positive or negative for any drug, etc.
