A member asked:

Can rubbing alcohol kill norovirus on surfaces? i'm hearing regular cleaners like lysol aren't effective against this strain.

Chlorine is best: The new strain causes a more virulent illness, but there is no evidence that it is harder to kill on surfaces. Chlorine bleach is what is most recommended - http://www.Michigan.Gov/documents/guidelines_for_environmental_cleaning_125846_7.Pdf.

Yes, but: Frequent hand washing with soap and water will help prevent spread of virus. Alcohol based formulas can be effective, but a 10% bleach in water solution is probably the most effective and commonly on hand remedy/prevention.
