3 days: You're most contagious 1-2 days before you start feeling symptoms [germs are sneaky that way -- it's easy to pass them around when we don't even know that we're sick!]. You're also contagious the first 3 days you have symptoms. Pass the chicken soup!

3 days: Depending on the virus that causes your cold, it is contagious for 2-7 days after symptoms abate.
