Maybe the reverse: Perhaps a problem in the upper airway is causing obstructive sleep apnea. See an otolaryngologist and get this addressed.

Yes: If gerd is part of the picture, the stomach contents can cause vocal cord dysfunction. You need to be treated for the sleep apnea.
