A member asked:

Why does garlic make me have very smelly gas and stool?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sulfides...: Garlic (allium sativum) contains sulfides (esp. Diallyl disulfide) which may account for its medicinal benefits but can also cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bronchospasm, hypoglycemia, contact dermatitis, burns when applied to the skin, & can kill bacteria (even some of the healthy flora in your gut). Onions are in the same lilliaceae family.
