Xylitol: Is safe for humans (that means I use it, and a good substitute, but i also use saccharine and cylamates). Xylitol may not be safe for dogs (overheard at my veternarian's).

Who knows?: No one knows what the future will hold. Even fruits, vegetables, the water we drink and the air we breathe has some risks. We are exposed to background radiation just living. The best we can do is to limit our risks as much as possible based upon current knowledge. Every person makes their own decisions based upon what they feel comfortable with.

Xylitol is safe: In early 60s the FDA has approved xylitol as a food additive or sweetener. Xylitol has also benefits for dental health and prevention of tooth decay.
