Depends on surgeon: You should make sure you are not pregnant as most spine surgery requires some amount of fluoroscopy. But birth contol pills do increase chances of blood clots, discuss w your surgeon. Do not take blood thinners (aspirin, lovenox, (enoxaparin) heparin, Plavix etc. ), also you shouldn't take any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (advil, Ibuprofen etc.) as it thins your blood and inhibits fusion.

Probably: If your surgery is anticipated to involve a prolonged period of bedrest or inactivity, you would be at increased risk of developing blood clots if you were to continue on the pill. You should discuss this with your spine surgeon.
