Heat pack: Assuming that you are talking about the visible portion of the "bruise", also called ecchymosis, then time alone will cause resorbtion of the blood which is present in the soft tissues under the skin. The color starts purple, then moves to green and yellow as more and more of the iron in the blood is removed. A heat pack will speed the resorption process.
