Varies by type : Different woods have different effects. At the very least you will have irritated your lung with large and small particulate matter, which puts you at risk for COPD as you age. Maple, rosewood, cedar, and others can lead to lung disease over time through alleric reactions. Some woods (yew, oleander) are poisonous and inhalation can be directly toxic. See attached chart.
