Not likely: In a newborn, a form of this stenosis can be an issue, but in most other settings, it will impair, and alter dietary intake. If the stenosis is related to ingestion of a caustic substance, such as an akalai, then additional damage to the intestine may be an issue.

Very rare: Pyloric stenosis can be corrected in most cases, condition is serious. Infants who are not diagnosed quickly are at increased risk for developing further stomach irritation, dehydration, and electrolyte loss. They may experience shock (extremely low blood pressure), malnutrition, and stunted growth. Death from pyloric stenosis is rare, but can occur if symptoms continue for too long.
