Bacterial infection: Preseptal cellulitis is usually a bacterial infection of the tissues surrounding the eye. It is treated with systemic antibiotics, often augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) but can be others depending on the patient and the presumed source of infection. It should be followed closely because it can spread through the orbital septum and affect the eye and orbital tissues.
