Yes and no: Pink eye is caused by a virus that runs a typical course of a few weeks. There is no cure for pink eye but time. Antibiotics do not work. Touching your eyes will transfer the infective virus to other people and surface where it can reinfect you and other people. Hand washing and using tissues (then immediately throwing them out) is essential.

No : Pink eye is usually a self limited disease. If your eye itch you have something other than pink eye.
