Wait: There is no cure for the viruses that cause gastroenteritis (stomach flu). The most important thing for you is to keep yourself well hydrated during the time it takes for your body to clear the virus.

Stomach Flu: Most cases of gastroenteritis are from viruses and are self -limited. This means that medications are usually necessary. Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks. Sip often to prevent dehydration. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy & high fat foods. Rest.

Nothing: It is a viral infection and must run its course. Can treat symptoms (nausea / diarrhea / muscle aches / fever) to be less miserable. Try to remain hydrated to keep up with fluid losses. Can use chewable anti-nausea medicine for help (like dramamine (dimenhydrinate) / bonine / etc.). See dr if vomiting to point cannot keep liquids down, lightheaded, or bad abdominal pains.
