Infectious!: If a mouth comes in contact with the genitals ( vagina, penis or anus) of a person with genital herpes the herpes virus can be transmitted and cause lesions around the mouth and nose that look like cold sores. The virus can be transmitted this way even if there is not an active outbreak.
