Compulsion?: First off - a psychiatric diagnosis can't be made with this info. Mania is a state with markedly increased energy level & rapid thoughts. Obsessive compulsive disorder deals with compulsive behaviors that the person finds hard to control. If this is a compulsion- that could be a problem for the dog. I suggest talking to her about it before making decisions about what to do with the dog.

Big difference: Obessive-compulsive disorder = anxiety disorder than involves repetitive counting, checking, or other ritualistic behaviors and or recurrient intrusive unwanted thoughts that are to a degree that it interferes with one or more areas of life functioning. Mania is a mood episode or state where there is a distinct change from baseline and there is marked elation or irratability racing thoughts etc.
