Never too late: It is not too late to seek protection until the end of flu season, usually late march to mid-april. While we have seen on onslaught of influenza a already here in illinois, no influenza b yet, so there is likely more to come, as influenza b usually hits here later in the winter. So absolutely still get their immune system gearing up!

Get flu vaccine now: Influenza activity is predicted to increase in the next couple of months, so getting the vaccine now will still be beneficial. This year has been a bit unusual, as influenza cases have been more prevalent, earlier than usual. We expect early 2013 to bring even more influenza activity. It's never to late to vaccinate. I had a teen with influenza a in july! he exposed an entire football camp.

Flu season: The best time to get the flu vaccine for your entire family is early fall. The flu season usually starts in december or january and can go on for several months, but it may start earlier some years. Getting your vaccine early will help protect your family before the flu season hits!

Flu shots: Flu shots are available usually throughout the year depending on availability. The flu season can vary per region but usually starts when cold weather starts. Many MDs begin giving flu shots in NE area, for instance, around Sept/Nov. Likely better to wait till then if in Tx.
