Nodules or bursae: Nodules can be soft and full of fluid ie bursae or hard and firm and be crystals of uric acid or other forms or cartilage fragments from trauma or with sytemic symptoms could be a manifestation of underlying inflammation in diseases such as rheumaatic fever sarcoidosis or others.
