Depends: Many soft lenses are designed to be worn overnight and sometimes several days at a time. Rigid lenses are less tolerant of this and you might suffer oxygen deprivation to your cornea (contact lens overwear). If the eye gets red from overnight use, take the lens out and see your ophthalmologist if the redness lasts to the next day.
