How does head lice get transferred from person to person?

Sharing: Head lice can be transmitted from one individual to another by direct scalp-to-scalp contact, sharing hair brushes or other hair accessories, and by coming in contact with bedding or cushions that were in contact by an infected individual. Close contact: It is important to remember that lice don't fly or jump from person to person. Young children often huddle, with their heads touching one another. Sharing items like hats and combs can also spread them. Sometimes a louse will crawl onto its owner's coat. When coats are hung together, in close proximity, the louse may travel to another coat.
