Be sure of diagnosis: Get examined please. Canker sores are common aphthous ulcers of mouth that occur situationally, often in response to stressors, are bacterial or viral, & can be treated topically with many otc products that reduce local discomfort & potentially speed healing. However, oral/dental problems & a number of systemic diseases cause canker sore-like lesions--crohn's, behcet's, std (sexually transmitted).

Mouth ulcer: Canker sores, aka apthous ulcers, are painful mouth ulcers that may have a viral origin. They last 7-10 days and appear on mucosal tissues in the mouth. Most treatments involve a numbing gel and a coating gel. In my dental office we now use lasers to treat canler sores. We have found that they do not appear inthe same stop that was laser treated.
