Constipation: The colon can become impacted if the constipation is bad enough, and this can lead to damage to the intestinal tissues. Ultimately, this could be fatal after a long period of time. Normally, the colon does not extend into the chest, it is in the abdomen. In some cases, the colon can herniate into the chest cavity, but this is a far more serious condition than just constipation.
