Dislocated knee: A dislocated knee usually refers to a complete or near complete separation of the tibia relative to the femur (thigh bone). Depending on the location of the tibia dictates ligament and soft tissue injury. Typically an x ray is performed following a careful neurovascular assessment of the limb. The peroneal nerve should be checked along with the distal pulses at the level of the foot.
