Hcg: Human choriogonadatropin is a hormone of pregnancy. It maintains the lining of uterus and allows implantation to occur. This is what pregnancy test is detecting. So if periods ovulation irregular does not alter results. If pregnant HCG present. If not pregnant no hcg.
