Numbness: In hands associated with repeatative activity may be nerve compression resulting in carpel tunnel synd..The elbow also has a superficial nerve that can be compressed resulting in numbness.

? cubital tunnel: You may be experiencing pinching of the ulnar nerves at the elbow, which would explain you symptoms, especially with arm position for the "fishing knots". Would propose you see your doctor and schedule an EMG study, which will localize and point the way for successful treatment.
