A member asked:

What's the percentage of having a liver metastase later in a stage 3b colon cancer?

Uncertain: Each person is different and the chance of colon cancer showing up in the liver later varies widely. Usually chemotherapy would be recommended as a means of treatment for stage 3 colon cancer to try to prevent cancer recurrences in the liver or elsewhere.

See below: People with stage 3b colon cancer, even after removal and chemotherapy, still have about a 30-40% chance of return of cancer. The liver is a common site.

Not so Simple: Love girl, there are defined percentages and they run in ranges. However they take into consideration a host of factors. To simply give you a percentage would not be a sound advice as a practitioner in this setting. Your oncologist should be able to give an idea, after considering your friend's/family member's history, pathology, etc.
